Recommendations are a starting point, based on benchmarks and deployments. Always measure with your own data before you rely on them. ## What this section will contain - **Partition count and throughput sizing:** how many partitions and virtual IPs to plan for a target produce and consume rate. - **Producer and consumer settings by workload:** batching, acknowledgement and fetch settings for high-throughput and low-latency streams. - **Retention and topic-table query patterns:** how long to keep events, and how to query topic tables efficiently. - **Moving from Apache Kafka:** planning a migration of producers, consumers and Kafka tools. Each page will say which VAST Cluster version and test setup its recommendations come from. ## Where to find how it works The rest of the VAST Event Broker docs explain how each feature works, what each setting does and how to measure the result: [manage topics](/develop/docs/dev-event-broker-guides-topics), [producing](/develop/docs/dev-event-broker-guides-producing), [consuming](/develop/docs/dev-event-broker-guides-consuming), [querying topics](/develop/docs/dev-event-broker-guides-querying-topics), [limits](/develop/docs/dev-event-broker-reference-limits). Best-practices pages link to those pages rather than repeat them. ## Status This section is being written. Until its pages are published, start with the pages above, and ask your VAST account team for guidance on your workload.
