# Steps to Upgrade VAST CSI Driver

Choose your upgrade path:

- To upgrade from 2.2.1 or later to 2.4.x:

  - Follow the [procedure](/develop/docs/upgrading-a-helm-based-deployment-of-vast-csi-driver-2-4) for upgrading a Helm-based deployment.
- To upgrade from 2.2.0 to 2.4.x:

  1. Follow the [procedure](/develop/docs/upgrading-a-helm-based-deployment-of-vast-csi-driver-2-4) for upgrading a Helm-based deployment.
  2. (Optional) Run a [script](/develop/docs/en/create-automatic-views-for-existing-pvcs-2-4) to create [View-per-Volume](/develop/docs/automatic-creation-of-a-view-per-volume-2-4) views for existing PVCs.
- To upgrade from 2.1.x to 2.4.x:

  1. [Remove](/develop/docs/remove-vast-csi-driver-21x-or-20x-2-4) version 2.1.x.
  2. [Deploy](/develop/docs/steps-to-deploy-vast-csi-driver-2-4) version 2.4.x.
  3. (Optional) Run a [script](/develop/docs/create-automatic-views-for-existing-pvcs-2-4) to create [View-per-Volume](/develop/docs/automatic-creation-of-a-view-per-volume-2-4) views for existing PVCs.
- To upgrade from 2.0.x to 2.4.x:

  1. [Remove](/develop/docs/remove-vast-csi-driver-21x-or-20x-2-4) version 2.0.x.
  2. [Deploy](/develop/docs/steps-to-deploy-vast-csi-driver-2) version 2.4.x.
  3. [Migrate](/develop/docs/migrate-pvs-from-vast-csi-driver-20x-to-2x-2-4) existing Kubernetes persistent volumes.
  4. (Optional) Run a [script](/develop/docs/create-automatic-views-for-existing-pvcs-2-4) to create [View-per-Volume](/develop/docs/automatic-creation-of-a-view-per-volume-2-4) views for existing PVCs.
- To upgrade from 1.0.x to 2.4.x:

  1. [Remove](/develop/docs/remove-vast-csi-driver-10x-2-4) version 1.0.x.
  2. [Deploy](/develop/docs/steps-to-deploy-vast-csi-driver-2-4) version 2.4.x.
  3. [Migrate](/develop/docs/migrate-pvs-from-vast-csi-driver-20x-to-2x-2-4) existing Kubernetes persistent volumes.

Containers referencing VAST CSI Driver will run with the new version of VAST CSI Driver the next time they are created.
