# VAST CSI Driver 2.6.1 Release Notes

VAST CSI Driver 2.6.1 is released to General Availability as of May 2025.

To upgrade to VAST CSI Driver 2.6.1, follow the upgrade procedure in the [*VAST CSI Driver 2.6 Administrator's Guide*](/develop/docs/csi-driver-administrators-guide-2-6).

**Note**: This driver version is not compatible with VAST Cluster 5.5.0 or later.

## New Features and Capabilities

### Support of VMS API Tokens

When used with VAST Cluster 5.3 or later, VAST CSI Driver allows for authentication of the connection to the VAST cluster by means of VMS API tokens. You can supply the VMS user's token using the new `token` parameter in the Kubernetes secret.
