# Managing Indestructible Protection Policies and Snapshots

To flag a protection policy or snapshot with indestructibility, simply enable the Indestructible setting when creating or modifying the [protection policy](/docs-5-3/docs/en/managing-protection-policies) or [snapshot](/docs-5-3/docs/managing-snapshots). Deleting an indestructible protection policy or snapshot is not possible without unlocking the cluster's indestructibility mechanism. Similarly, you cannot disable the indestructible flag on a snapshot or modify a protection policy without unlocking the cluster's indestructibility mechanism.
