# Handling Indestructibility Alarms

Alarms are issued in the following situations. Some may require action to prevent security breaches:

| Scenario | Alarm Duration | Action to Take |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A protection policy was flagged indestructible but the indestructibility password has not been changed from the default value. | Until the password is changed. | Immediately set a secure indestructibility password. |
| A user initiated a restore of the indestructibility password to default. | Duration of the password restore delay period. | If the restore was not initiated by an authentic VMS user who is trusted to unlock the indestructibility mechanism, contact VAST Support during the delay period for assistance. |
| The indestructibility mechanism was unlocked. | One day |  |
