# The VAST REST API

VAST Management System (VMS) has a REST API that you can leverage to develop your own management client or to integrate VMS functionality into your own custom management infrastructure, should you wish to do so.

To learn about how to use the VMS REST API, browse to `https://<VMS_VIP>/docs/index.html` from within your VMS management network.

`<VMS_VIP>` is the IP provided when installing the cluster as the management VIP. It is the IP used to connect to the VAST Cluster management server (VMS).
