Typically, an SMB client sends an SMB FSCTL_SRV_COPYCHUNK IOCTL request to initiate a server-side copy of data. VAST Cluster performs the copy locally, without requiring data to traverse the network to the SMB client and back. This improves performance and lessens network load on the SMB client. ## Enabling and Configuring SMB Server-Side Copy Support for SMB server-side copy is a built-in feature of the SMB protocol on VAST Cluster. No additional steps on the VAST cluster are needed to enable or configure this feature.
