VAST Virtualization ToC

Prev Next

The "Virtualization" category in the VAST Data developer documentation covers how VAST storage works with container platforms and virtual machine environments. It has five sections.

VAST Drivers is the largest section. It holds the versioned documentation for the CSI Driver (versions 2.4 to 2.7), the Block CSI Driver (2.6 and 2.7), the COSI Driver, and the OpenStack Cinder Driver.

Containers K8s has seven practical guides:

  • Deploying Kubernetes with VAST CSI and a general overview of VAST with Kubernetes.

  • Running virtual machines on Kubernetes with KubeVirt and the VAST Block CSI driver, including VM cloning with VastCSI 2.3.

  • Migrating PersistentVolumeClaims between Kubernetes clusters that share a VAST cluster.

  • Deploying Ignition on the Block CSI driver.

  • Configuring Alluxio with VAST S3 and NFS.

OpenStack Covers the VAST Manila NFS driver. The driver was built for the OpenStack Rocky release.

OpenShift Covers installing and upgrading the VAST NFS client with the Kernel Module Management (KMM) operator.

VMware Covers VMware VAAI hardware acceleration with VAST's NVMe-TCP block storage, and a best-practices guide for running vSphere environments on VAST.
